Jriver 259/16/2023 I then proceeded to forget about it for about 8 months. While I already have what I'd call the world's best $9 media player app for Android (Universal Audio Player Pro or "UAPP"), I figured I'd give JRiver for Android a try too, after some time had passed and any initial bugs were squashed. The Yamaha does FLAC, but not APE.Some time ago I had seen mention on the JRiver forum of the development of a version of Media Center that would run on Android. I am listening to some of the remaining APE files I have. The only minor problem I have is I only have one Monitor which is fed through the Yamaha, so when I click jRiver the monitor changes to the PC music on-screen display, A second monitor fed directly from the PC will fix this problem so I can continue to see the jRiver console. All of the TB’s of music files and playlists are now accessed from jRiver on the PC. Now instead of controlling the playback on the Yamaha, I am now controlling it from the much better UI of jRiver 25. It took a couple of minutes to realize what had happened. I did this and clicked a music track again, I was surprised when jRiver instantly switched the Yamaha to PC Music mode and started playback. I then remembered jRiver requires a restart before it will switch inputs. I started with Xonar, than I switched to audio to AMD, no change it continued to playback to the W45’s. Returning to jRiver on the PC switched to the AMD True Audio setting to see if it worked with the Yamaha configured for it. There is a weirdness in the way the Yamaha scans your files, and I could only get it to index a fraction of the media files I have. It is very tedious to find a particular album or song. I have not used it much because of the Yamaha’s UI sucks. The sound through this mode is fantastic, frankly, it blows the Xonar Essence out of the solar system. Configured that and was off and running with the Yamaha taking the HDMI audio feed. I next looked at the AVR’s PC Music mode and I found that I had forgotten to set it up on jRiver when I upgraded to jRiver 25. It must have happened with the last Windows update, I went through the checks and I could not get the HDMI feed to work. The way I did it was to switch the output between the Radeon RX580, and The ASUS Xonar Essence SC, The GPU to the Yamaha, the Xonar to the Dayton Audio DTA-120BT amp, and then to the Wharfedale W45’s. I have not used the HDMI AMD True Audio much between the PC and the Yamaha AVR.
